Fancy yourself a Food Warrior? Do you dare to dine and dominate? Is your voracious appetite as loud as your bark? Have you ever yearned to experience the glory and adrenaline rush of consuming copious amounts of food in front of hundreds of raucous, adoring fans?
If so, now is your time to shine as aDSCN9740 competitor in the Kennett Square Mushroom Festival’s Fried Mushroom Eating Contest!
Nearly 100,000 guests visit Kennett Square during the Mushroom Festival, and The National Fried Mushroom Eating Contest has become the most visited event during the weekend. The electric atmosphere of the frenzied fungus followers will hit an all-time-high when the food warriors start their 8-minute fury of feeding to crown the 2017 Fried Mushroom Eating Champion.
Competitive eating pros and aspiring amateurs will compete together in an event which will test their gastronomical boundaries, as well as create an electric atmosphere for the contest attendees.DSCN9731

Again this year there will be a Local Champion crowned, as well as an Overall Champion.

Kennett Square’s own Monty “Moe Train” Wiradilaga will host the National Fried Mushroom Championship again this year.  Wiradilaga, a competitive eater and show host, is a former amateur National Fried Mushroom Eating Champion, and a top-5 finisher in WIP’s Wing Bowl.
